Nacho Average Book EdVenture

A Nationwide Reading & STEM Literacy Adventure

If you’ve ever taught a room full of little kids anything — dance steps, how to line up, or how to listen for the music — you know one thing for sure:

Kids are naturally curious.

For years, Ashley Moseley has worked with children through arts education, literacy engagement, and storytelling, watching firsthand how much kids love to move, explore, ask questions, and imagine.

That same spirit inspired the Nacho Average Book EdVenture — a nationwide literacy initiative helping place the Into the Jungle children’s book series into libraries across the country completely free of charge.

Each participating library becomes part of the EdVenture.

Each book placed on a shelf becomes another opportunity for a child to discover reading, science, wildlife, and curiosity through storytelling.

And honestly… that’s where the real magic begins.

THE BOOKS BEHIND THE EDVENTURE

The Into the Jungle Series

The EdVenture features Ashley Moseley’s Into the Jungle children’s STEM book series:

Nacho House Cat

Why Did the Tapir Cross the Street?

This Birdie Told Me

These stories combine humor, adventure, wildlife conservation, biodiversity, and age-appropriate science to spark curiosity and exploration in young readers.

The books encourage children to ask questions like:

Why do animals behave the way they do?

Where do wildlife species live?

How are wild animals different from pets?

Why do habitats matter?

The science connections throughout the series were developed with Dr. Michael Windelspecht, lead textbook author for McGraw Hill, helping ensure the animal science remains accurate, engaging, and approachable for children.

But at the heart of every story is something even bigger:

Helping children fall in love with learning.

FOLLOW THE EDVENTURE

Tracking the Journey Across the Country

One of the most exciting parts of the Nacho Average Book EdVenture is watching the books travel from library to library across the United States.

Each participating library is added to the interactive EdVenture map, allowing students, educators, families, and communities to follow the books’ journey and explore where the stories are reaching young readers next.

Many teachers have even started using the map as a classroom extension activity to:

explore geography

track locations

discuss communities

connect literacy with real-world learning

LIBRARIES MAKE THIS POSSIBLE

Libraries have always been places where curiosity begins.

Many of the libraries participating in the EdVenture were personally selected by the educators, illustrators, conservationists, and scientists involved in creating the books — individuals who wanted to give back to the libraries that helped shape their own childhood love of reading and learning.

The Nacho Average Book EdVenture is ultimately about:

literacy access

curiosity

STEM learning

conservation awareness

community connection

And most importantly:
helping children discover the joy of asking questions about the world around them.

WHERE CURIOSITY BEGINS

These aren’t simply book donations.

They’re curiosity starters.

And sometimes the smallest spark of curiosity can become a lifelong love of reading, science, exploration, and learning.
