Payne’s Advertising was started in 1991 by Ashley’s dad, Don Payne. Ashley spent a good bit of time traveling with him to see clients or sitting by his side in meetings, so it wasn’t a surprise when she declared Advertising to be her major at Appalachian State University. Along the way she made the National List of Collegiate Scholars and graduated at the top of her class in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications.
After graduation, Ashley worked alongside her dad at Payne’s Advertising part-time while she taught dance and worked as the Director of Development for several non-profit organizations. After Don’s passing in 2016, Ashley took over all operations for Payne’s Advertising. In 2021, Ashley went back to school at UNC-Chapel Hill for a certificate in Digital Marketing. Since then, Payne’s Advertising has expanded their original print services to include include digital needs as well (social marketing, website SEO, graphic designs, etc).

For years, Ashley has served as the Marketing Director for InspireEdVentures, an international wildlife education and conservation company with programs rooted in science, storytelling, and global partnerships. From managing SEO and social media strategy to creating custom graphics, educational campaigns, and promotional content, she has helped grow the organization’s reach and impact – both in the U.S. and abroad.
Ashley also applies her skills to support her own children’s book promotions, ensuring every story finds its audience with a strong, purpose-driving message.
